
When in 1983 veteran actor, Chief Remmy Ohajianya first faced the camera; little did he know that 10 years later, he would begin to face it constantly as his means of livelihood till date.
Ohanjianya, an indigene of Ehime Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State and trained by National Teachers Institute Kaduna State speaks with the publisher of SOLIDNEWSNG.COM Online Magazine’s AZUH LILIAN, about the career that brought him fame.

Where have you been and what are you doing currently?
I am still in Nollywood movie industry, playing my roles in any movie whenever I am called to work.
When did you feature last in a Nollywood film?
My last job is not up to 2 weeks old and it’s titled; ‘My Father’s Advice Made Me Successful.’
What makes a good actor?
There’s a lot that makes one a good actor, such as having the talent, being trained through the job or school. Having the interest to interpret the role given to you to play and be ready to heed to correction.
For how long have you been in the movie industry?
In 1983, I faced my first camera shoot and 10 years after, I faced it as means of livelihood which was in 1993, shortly after the hit movie, ‘Living in Bondage.’ Till date, I am still in the movie business.
What stands you out as an actor?
What stands me out is my humility and simplicity. Doing things the way it will please me and not to stress myself to please you.
What are the 3 things your fans don’t know about you?
My fans don’t know I can forgive easily, I don’t bear malice and I can die saying the truth.
Who are your role models?
Late Professor Dora Akunyili and Dr.Mrs. Ngozi Okonji Iweala, are my role models.
Which is the most memorable role you have interpreted and why?
It is ‘Ebube’ (The land of tears). I played two characters; the youth and elderly. This was achieved with the aid of the veteran director, the former president of Directors Guild of Nigeria, Mr. Andy Amenechi.
Which is the worst role you have played?
I can’t say that I have had any worst role in acting because I am capable of interpreting every character given to me to play.
What is your general assessment of Nollywood?
I praise the practitioners so far because they have done what they did to grow the industry single handedly without government support in anyway.
How many movies have you featured in?
I have lost count of movies that I have done. Even there are many I don’t know their titles
What is the greatest lesson life has taught you?
That was when I laid my life down to serve and grow the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), but my pay back was making two presidents of the same guild. I was paid with regrets, though I have learnt my lessons.
How would you describe Remy Ohajianya?
Chief Remy Ohajianya is humble, God fearing, simple and easy going and above all, he is always saying the truth.
How affordable is Remy Ohajianya’s charges?
For movies and MC jobs, Remy Ohajianya is affordable by any one that didn’t start fee negotiation with arrogance. My charge is private till you need my services.
It’s not to be made public because those that make theirs public are bragging with it and sometimes they influence it for people to hail them as big guys. I’m not in the range of such class of people.
What is your state of origin?
I’m from Ehime Mbano Local Government Area (LGA), Okigwe Zone, Imo State.
Like how many awards do you have to your credit?
Awards to my honour are above 15 and I cherish them a lot because to me it shows my effort and it reflects who I am in the society.
What is the greatest thing God has done for you?
The greatest thing God has done for me is giving me life and saving me from a ghastly motor accident.
Can you recollect the last time you wore a suit and what was the occasion?
I can’t remember the last time I wore a suit, because I am not a fan of Corporate wears.
Which is your favorite; corporate or native attires and why?
My favorite is native attires, because I’m an Igbo man.
What is your favorite food?
Vegetable soup and swallow
What is your favorite color and why?
I’m not a color freak. I go for anything my eyes like at that time. I’m color blind.
How about drinks?
I drink majorly water. Any other drink is once in a while.
How do you relax?
My best time of relaxation is when I am playing a draft game.
Where is the most fantastic place you have travelled to recently?
It is my village, Ehime Mbano where I get everything I need fresh.
What is the most common thing in your wardrobe?
The most common thing in my wardrobe is perfumes and roll-on.
What does fashion mean to you?
Fashion to me and everyone is to cover your nakedness and nothing more
What is your philosophy of life?
My philosophy of life is for one to act well his part, there he finds his honour.
What is the highest amount you have spent on a fashion item?
There’s no specific amount I have spent on fashion because I like what I spent my money for because it must worth the value.
Who are your best friends and what does friendship means to you?
My best friends are those that agree to my principles of philosophy.
Friendship to me, is keeping an understanding relationship with love because you cannot live without understanding.
What is the sweetest thing about marriage?
It is breeding children and gaining respect from your wife.
What’s your advice for those up and coming actors who see you as a role model?
My advice to up and coming actors is to learn well before becoming masters.
What is the nicest thing you have heard people say about you?
That I’m a good man, with a good heart and i give God all the glory.
