The Director General, APC Youth Network West Africa, Hon. Olatunde Gideon Igbasan, on Friday, July 17, 2026, distributed free meals to the needy at the organization’s Agidingbi office in Ikeja, Lagos.
The outreach is part of the “Food For The Needy” programme which commenced two weeks ago. This week’s edition marks the third distribution. The initiative is scheduled to hold every Friday throughout 2026.
APC Youth Network West Africa Director of Welfare, Saludeen Sheu Tijani, said the programme is aimed at caring for the less privileged.
“We fed thousands of people in the first, second and third batches. Last week was 850, today we fed over 1,000 and next week, we will do more,” Tijani stated.
He added that aside from cooked meals, the group also distributes customized raw food items.
“The project is meant to take place every Friday throughout the year,” he said.
Tijani noted that the group also runs empowerment programmes.
He said: “Last week, we visited Ghana and Togo to empower students with scholarships through our DG, Hon. Olatunde Gideon Igbasan.”
He stressed that the food distribution is not tied to elections. “Igbasan has been doing this even before the elections.”
Speaking at the event, Hon. Igbasan said he is inspired by the leadership style of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Describing himself as a philanthropist, Igbasan said he is passionate about helping people through scholarships and business support.
He urged Nigerians to participate in the electoral process:
“Get your voters cards. PVC registration is ongoing and you can register online via self-service. PVC is your power, please vote wisely and for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”
Assistant Welfare Coordinator, Oluwatobi, said over 500 people were fed during the distribution.
“Our leader has invested a lot in this project, and he makes sure that the programme holds every Friday. The foods we distribute here are of great quality, and the meals are sumptuous. The food is for the needy and for all kinds of people,” he said.
Media and Publicity Officer, APC Food Network West Africa, Theresa Adeyemi, described Igbasan as someone from a humble background.
“DG Hon. Olatunde Gideon Igbasan is from Bariga slum, Abeokuta Street. He has been through a lot and that is why he wants to give back to society,” she said.
Igbasan said he has researched the achievements of President Tinubu, including the coastal road project and new policies, and has been promoting the President’s work across West Africa.
“If in doubt, go to the internet and check for yourself,” he said.
The DG, who is a businessman based in Ghana, said he is funding the project personally as part of his effort to bring his wealth home and give back to the society.
The food distribution ended with beneficiaries expressing appreciation for the initiative.
