Nigerian football legend, Daniel Amokachi, has been unveiled as the Pan-African Brand Ambassador for sports entertainment company, 22Bet Nigeria, in a partnership aimed at promoting African football culture, supporting grassroots communities and encouraging responsible gaming across the continent.
The unveiling ceremony, held on 5 August, 2026, at BON Hotels, GRA, Ikeja, Lagos, brought together football stakeholders, business partners and members of the media to celebrate what both parties described as a partnership built on purpose.
Widely regarded as one of Nigeria’s greatest football exports, Amokachi, popularly known as “The Bull,” enjoyed an illustrious career with the Super Eagles and top European clubs, including Club Brugge, Everton and Besiktas. Beyond his achievements on the pitch, he has remained an influential voice in African football through coaching, mentorship and youth development.
Speaking at the unveiling, Head of Operations, 22Bet Nigeria, Oluwafemi Olobayo, said the company chose Amokachi because he represents the values the brand stands for and embodies the African football story.
“We are proud to officially unveil Daniel Amokachi as 22Bet’s Pan-African Brand Ambassador. Daniel Amokachi is more than a football legend; he is a symbol of the Nigerian and African experience, a man who carried the hopes of a nation, competed at the highest level and continues to inspire generations long after hanging up his boots.
“This partnership is not about short-term visibility; it is about purpose. Daniel Amokachi joins 22Bet on a Pan-African platform to support football culture, local communities and responsible engagement across Africa.
“Football remains one of the strongest forces uniting our continent, from the streets of Lagos to communities across East, West and Southern Africa. Through this partnership, we want to celebrate that culture and amplify authentic African football stories that contribute meaningfully to the communities that keep the game alive,” he said.
Olobayo added that the company recognises the responsibility that comes with such a platform, noting that promoting football must also involve encouraging positive values and responsible participation.
According to him, Amokachi’s integrity, leadership and lifelong commitment to football make him the ideal ambassador to drive that vision.
“In the months ahead, this partnership will focus on celebrating African football culture, supporting initiatives that impact young players and local football communities, while using Daniel’s voice and platform to encourage positive participation in the game we all love. We are honoured that a man of Amokachi’s stature has joined us on this journey,” he added.
Also speaking, Country Manager of 22Bet Nigeria, Fikayo, described the partnership as a significant milestone for both the company and African football.

Responding, Amokachi expressed appreciation to 22Bet for finding him worthy of the ambassadorial role, saying many others could have been chosen.
He noted that he accepted the offer because the company’s core values align with his own commitment to developing African football and giving back to society.
“It could have been anybody standing in this position today, but 22Bet chose me. Their core values resonate with my own values. We speak the same language, and that is why I accepted to become the company’s Pan-African ambassador.
“Football gave me everything. It took a boy from Kaduna and gave him the world. Africa has incredible talent. I want to support young players and football communities. This partnership is about giving back and telling African football stories—the real stories of hard work, sacrifice and hope that too often go unheard,” he said.
As part of the collaboration, 22Bet and Amokachi will work together to celebrate African football culture and its heroes, support initiatives that impact young players and grassroots football communities, and promote responsible engagement around the game.
An emotional highlight of the event came when a video chronicling Amokachi’s remarkable football journey was played on a large screen. The former striker became visibly emotional as memorable moments from his playing career were showcased.
He was particularly moved while reflecting on the late Stephen Keshi and Shuaibu Amodu, describing both men as heroes whose immense contributions to Nigerian football deserve greater recognition and celebration.
The event concluded with the symbolic signing of a football and the official contract, marking the beginning of what both parties described as a long-term partnership dedicated to celebrating African football, empowering local communities and inspiring the next generation of football talent across the continent.
