The Director General of APC Youth Network West Africa, Hon. Olatunde Gideon Igbasan, has continued his humanitarian outreach by providing free meals to hundreds of vulnerable Nigerians through his “Food for the Needy” initiative.
The third edition of the weekly programme was held on Friday, July 17, 2026, at the APC Youth Network West Africa office in Agidingbi, Ikeja, Lagos, where beneficiaries received nutritious meals and other food support.
The initiative, which commenced two weeks ago under the motto “Strong and Reliable,” is designed to run every Friday throughout 2026. Beyond serving cooked meals, the programme also distributes raw food items to less privileged individuals and families.
Speaking at the event, the Director of Welfare, APC Youth Network West Africa, Saludeen Sheu Tijani, said the initiative was established to provide relief for the less privileged and improve the welfare of vulnerable members of society.
According to him, the programme has continued to record increasing participation. He disclosed that about 850 people benefited from the second edition, while more than 1,000 people were served during the latest exercise.
“We are determined to reach even more people every week. This initiative will continue every Friday throughout the year, and in addition to cooked meals, we also distribute raw food items to those in need,” he said.
Tijani added that the organisation’s humanitarian activities extend beyond food distribution. He revealed that the APC Youth Network West Africa also runs empowerment programmes, including scholarships for students in neighbouring West African countries through the support of Hon. Igbasan.
He stressed that the food outreach is a long-standing charitable programme and should not be viewed as an election-related initiative, noting that Hon. Igbasan has consistently supported communities through philanthropy long before the current political season.
Describing the APC Youth Network Director General as a committed philanthropist, Tijani said Hon. Igbasan has continued to invest in scholarships, business support and other empowerment programmes aimed at improving the lives of ordinary Nigerians.
The Assistant Welfare Coordinator, Oluwatobi, commended Hon. Igbasan for personally funding the initiative, noting that the quality of meals provided has attracted hundreds of beneficiaries every week.
“Our leader has invested so much into this project to ensure it runs successfully every Friday. The meals are nutritious, well prepared and available to everyone, especially those who genuinely need assistance,” he said.
Also speaking, the Media and Publicity Officer of APC Youth Network West Africa, Theresa Adeyemi, said Hon. Igbasan’s passion for humanitarian service is rooted in his humble upbringing.
According to her, the APC Youth Network DG rose from a modest background and understands the challenges faced by many Nigerians, motivating him to give back to society through regular charitable interventions.
She added that, despite being a successful businessman based in Ghana, Hon. Igbasan has remained committed to investing his resources in initiatives that improve the lives of Nigerians.
During the programme, organisers encouraged eligible Nigerians to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and participate in the electoral process, describing the PVC as an important instrument for civic participation. They also expressed support for the policies and programmes of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, urging citizens to make informed choices during future elections.
The weekly food outreach has continued to attract large numbers of beneficiaries and remains one of the APC Youth Network West Africa’s flagship humanitarian programmes, reflecting Hon. Igbasan’s commitment to giving back to society through consistent acts of charity and community development.
