One person has died, and seven others sustained injuries following the collapse of a section of the new Gombe state house of assembly complex.
The Gombe state government said the incident occurred on Friday when a section of the cantilevered entrance canopy being constructed gave way at the project site.
The new Gombe state house of assembly complex is one of the major public infrastructure projects being executed by the administration of Inuwa Yahaya.

The state government said it has commenced an investigation to determine the cause of the collapse and prevent a recurrence.
In a statement signed by Danladi Adamu, permanent secretary of the ministry of works, housing and transportation, the government said eight workers were involved in the incident.
The statement said seven injured workers were immediately evacuated for medical attention, while one person died.
The government added that five of the injured are receiving treatment at the Gombe State Specialist Hospital, while two others are being treated at the Federal Teaching Hospital (FTH), Gombe.
The statement said Yahaya had been briefed on the incident and expressed condolences to the family of the deceased.
