Recently, Uzoka Ifeanyi Casey was elected Chairman of the Board of Church Warden Liturgical Functionary, of the Roman Catholic fold.
Casey who is a financial advisor by profession, a connector, a committed Church Warden, passionate about service, order, and teamwork speaks with the publisher of SOLIDNEWSNG.COM Online Magazine, AZUH LILIAN about his new leadership position as well as his fashion style.

As the new president of Church Warden, what are the major tasks you intend to focus on and possibly achieve at the end of your tenure?
As Chairman of the Board of Church Warden, my primary focus will be on strengthening order, discipline and unity in the discharge of our duties. I intend to ensure that all wardens are well-trained, aligned with our responsibilities and consistent in upholding the standards expected within the Church.
I will also prioritize improving coordination during liturgical activities, minimizing lapses and creating a more structured and seamless worship environment that supports both the clergy and the congregation.
By the end of my tenure, I aim to have built a more accountable, efficient, and united board, one that operates with clarity, reverence and excellence and serves as a model of commitment within the Church.
What is the legacy you want to leave behind as Church Warden president, by the time your tenure elapses?
The legacy I seek to leave behind is a Board of Church Warden that stands out across the deanery and the entire Archdiocese for its professionalism, strong character and high standard of service.
I envision building a body that becomes one of the most respected and sought-after liturgical functionary groups within the Laity Council, known for excellence, discipline and reliability in all its duties.
A key priority will also be to reduce all forms of indiscipline to the barest minimum by fostering a culture of accountability, responsibility and mutual respect. Beyond these, there are forward-looking initiatives in view which, in due time, will further strengthen the board and elevate its impact.
In your views, what would you say is the biggest challenge facing Church Warden and its teeming members?
In my view, the major challenges facing the Church Wardens and its members include limited funding, reduced commitment to personal spiritual development, insufficient manpower for effective officiating, and inadequate training.
Addressing these areas will be essential to strengthening the capacity, effectiveness, and overall impact of the board.
What are your plans, in terms of welfare packages, especially for the sick, old and vulnerable members of Church Warden?
The welfare of our members, especially the sick, elderly and vulnerable, will be given deliberate and structured attention. My plan is to establish a more responsive welfare system that ensures timely support, financially, emotionally, and spiritually, whenever the need arises.
We will strengthen internal support mechanisms by encouraging collective responsibility among members, while also exploring sustainable ways to build welfare funds that can be relied upon in times of need.
In addition, we will increase the promotion of regular check-ins, visitations and a culture of genuine care, so that no member feels neglected or unsupported. The goal is to build a board where every member is valued, protected and carried along, both in active service and in times of difficulties.

What are the benefits of being a member of Church Warden?
You will have the opportunity to work for God in his vineyard by being a part of the body for the full functioning of the body of Christ.
You avail yourself physically and spiritually to the voluntary call to the work for God. It helps to gain experience in running governance, planning and management of an organization.
You earn respect to be recognized for dedication and service in the church. Build a personal relationship with God through your service and opportunity to network amongst the Church community.
As the president of Church Warden, what would you say stands you out among your colleagues?
Trust of being a leader. The success and the failure of the board lies on your shoulders.
Final decisions lies on your verdict. He/She leads while others follow.
What’s so special and unique about Church Warden society?
We are a liturgical functionary (Ministers).
You guide, coordinators, observers, directors and most of all, defenders of the mass like Saint Michael the Archangel.
What does fashion mean to you?
To me, it portrays your personality.
What is the greatest thing God has done for you?
The grace to wake up each day to fulfil whatever is his purpose in my life and also play a part of someone’s life in his Glory.
What is your philosophy of life?
Don’t wish it were easier; wish you were better. Don’t wish for less problems, wish for more skills. Don’t wish for less challenges, wish for more wisdom
Quotes by Jim Rohn. Americans call him a “National Treasure”.
These philosophies changed my mindset
What does style mean to you?
The question might be a little broad but let me narrow it personally. Style is the clear expression of who you are, your personality, values and confidence, communicated effortlessly through the way you present yourself, your choices and your actions. It is authenticity made visible.
What is the greatest lesson life has taught you?
It is to make hay, while the sun shines.
And lastly, did you ever envisage that you would become the president of C/W this soon?
Absolutely! I have been dodging the responsibility for about a decade at this parish but like Jonah in the Bible, I had nowhere to run than to accept it as no one else was better qualified to man this leadership coupled with my wealth of experience over the years.
