Nigerian actress and on-air personality, Simidrey, has accused TAAG Airline of subjecting her to what she described as a distressing travel ordeal that left her stranded in South Africa for more than 24 hours.
In a statement shared on her Instagram page on Tuesday, Simidrey said she had a fully paid and confirmed business class ticket but was repeatedly denied boarding due to what she described as internal errors by the airline.
According to her, although her ticket appeared valid on TAAG’s system, she was told by South African Airways, which was handling part of her journey, that her name could not be found on the operating airline’s manifest.
The situation, she said, worsened when airline officials later informed her that only one seat was available on the next flight, in economy class, and that she would have to accept it as a “voluntary downgrade” and waive her right to compensation before being allowed to travel. Punch
