Kirloskar Oil Engines Limited (KOEL), a pioneer in power generation solutions, has launched the Optiprime Dual Core 1000 kVA generator – the world’s smallest in its category – in Nigeria.
In addition to this, Kirloskar also introduced the Sentinel Series – a newly developed range of high-performance generators tailored for residential and small business applications.
The launching, a colourful and inspiring event tagged “Partnering for Success in Nigeria with Kirloskar & Multivista”, was held at W Marriott, Ikeja GRA, Lagos, to build connections, get hands-on experiences and unlock technical development, and it had in attendance, the president, Global PowerGen Business, Madan Patil; the Director of Multivista West Africa Ltd, Mahesh Jayaranan; other Multivista West Africa Management and Kiloskar Officials, stakeholders in the power generation sector and others.
The president, Global PowerGen Business, Madan Patil, said the products underscore the company’s unwavering commitment to delivering energy-efficient, eco-conscious solutions that surpass global emission standards.
He also expressed confidence in the Nigerian economy, noting that it will grow steadily.
“Nigeria is the country to be in as far as the power generation products are concerned. I have been in Nigeria for some time now. I think my take is that this is the country to be in as far as the power generation products are concerned, because when we see the global markets, the products are mostly in the standby but here the products are prime in nature, and this is where the utilisation happens. And this is the area where majority of the power generation products are also available,” he said.
“Nigerian economy is going to grow multifold. Also the aspirations of the people and the initiatives of the government is going to help to grow the business and the economy here and we want to also partner in the growth.
“Unless we innovate, we make sure that we give best of the best to the customers, we will not win. And hence, it gives us a good opportunity and platform for us to implement our products.”
He added, “We at Kirloskar, we are very strong in technology and innovation. However, we have not popularised the products much. So this is an opportunity to take all our products to all the customers out here as well as bring in more and more innovation and also efficiency in the products we offer.
“Of late we have seen that our presence in the global market has been low and we want to increase that presence. That is the objective of coming here.”
Highlights of the “Partnering for Success in Nigeria” event include the unveiling of Optiprime Dual Core 1000 kVA generator (the world’s smallest in its category) among others; hands-on product demo; and knowledge forum.
According to Patil, Kirloskar power generating sets “prioritise user experience, delivering exceptional features and benefits. Streamlined installation and enhanced dependability to expedited service, reduced maintenance costs, and optimised performance. Kirloskar Powergen sets itself apart with groundbreaking engineering that establishes new industry.”
He further stated that the unique thing about the product is that it has an optimum fuel efficiency “because it works on one core or one gen set when the load is down. And if the load increases, then it works on the second gen set. So, it improves the fuel efficiency.
Also, in an interview with New Telegraph, the Director of Multivista West Africa Ltd, Mahesh Jayaranan, said that Kirloskar as a generator manufacturer, as a power generating equipment manufacturer, has been in India for over 100 years.
“And in the last 15-20 years, we have been expanding aggressively across the globe. Today we are present in over 60 countries globally. In Africa, as MultiVista, we are present in Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, and we have established ourselves in Nigeria.”
He also noted that Nigeria is the largest market for generators in Africa and the products have been very very well received in the market in the last two years.
“I thought this was the right time for us to showcase our newer technology which is called the OptiPrime, which is the first of its kind. And like you saw today, we’ve also launched officially the world’s smallest 1000 kVA generator, and that is going to be available in Nigeria soon. Given that there is also a lot of availability of gas and we thought it would be a good option to launch our gas generators.
“Along with the gas generators, for people who already have diesel generators, we have launched today the Dual Fuel Kit, which is a very, very good economical model for our customers in Nigeria who have diesel as well as gas. And this will be a very good hybrid mechanism for that. So we thought with so many new products and technologies, it is very important for us to meet, talk to our customers in Nigeria and be able to explain to them the products and their features. That is why this event is conducted today.”
Jayaranan assured that the products are affordable. “Apart from investing in technology, we have made sure that these products are affordable in the Nigeria market. When I say affordable, we are making sure that technology is absolutely at its forefront in terms of innovating along with keeping the prices very, very well under control.”
