The Igbo community in Kafanchan erupted in joy and celebration as Mr. Chidi Okechukwu Ihejirika was crowned Eze Ndi Igbo of Zikpak (Fantawam) in a grand ceremony that drew dignitaries and community members from far and wide.
The event, organized by the Igbo Community Welfare Association (ICWA) Kafanchan, under the leadership of President-General Mr. Emmanuel Ezeh, marked a significant moment for the Igbo people in the area. Mr. Okechukwu’s coronation was performed by His Royal Majesty, Dr. Josiah Tagwai Kantiyok, Agwam Zikpak (Fantawam) II, at the Fantawam Chiefdom office, Zikpak, Kafanchan.
The ceremony continued at the New Kafanchan Township Stadium, U/Musa, where a large crowd gathered to witness the historic occasion and celebrate the newly crowned Eze Ndi Igbo.
“It is indeed a beautiful day for the Igbo community here in Kafanchan. We are honored to have Mr. Chidi Okechukwu as our leader, and we look forward to his reign bringing unity and progress,” said Mr. Emmanuel Ezeh, President-General of ICWA, during his address at the event.
The celebrations were marked by jubilation, as traditional music, dances, and colorful displays filled the air. Guests were treated to sumptuous meals and a variety of entertainment, showcasing the rich culture and heritage of the Igbo people.
The newly crowned Eze Ndi Igbo, Mr. Chidi Okechukwu, expressed his gratitude for the honor bestowed upon him and pledged to serve the community with dedication and integrity.
“I am deeply humbled by this responsibility and the trust you have placed in me. Together, we will continue to strengthen the bonds of brotherhood and ensure the prosperity of our community,” he said in his acceptance speech.
The event was a remarkable display of cultural pride and unity, bringing together not only the Igbo community but also various ethnic groups within the region, further cementing the harmony that Kafanchan is known for.
The coronation of Chidi Okechukwu as Eze Ndi Igbo of Kafanchan signifies a new chapter for the Igbo people in the area, with hopes that his leadership will foster peace, unity, and development within the community.
