NYSC members
An unspecified number of Corps members deployed to Ekiti state were said to have been injured following the collapse of the bathroom structure at the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation camp in Ise-Emure, Ekiti. The affected bathroom, according to sources in the camp was the female segment which caved in on Friday morning.
One of the sources said, ”Yes the wall of one of the female bathroom building collapsed this morning (Friday) . It was the bathroom wall which caved in when they were planning to take their bath.
” But thank God, people rushed down there to retrieve them from the rubbles. They have been stabilized at the clinic and they will get further medical treatments.”
Vanguard gathered that the corps members are currently in the camp for the three-week compulsory orientation course for those deployed to the state.
In his reaction, the Director General of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brig Gen YD Ahmed appealed to Ekiti state governor, Biodun Oyebanji to equip the scheme at the state level with sustainable facilities for maximum welfare and security of corps members deployed to the state.
This was contained in a statement signed by the Director of Information and Public Relations, Eddy Megwa.
The DG said the two injured corps members have been admitted at a tertiary health facility for proper medical attention.
While urging the public to be calm, he said his administration is committed in making ensure that corps members across the states are safe.
