On Saturday, October 1, 2022 Professional Women ‘n’ Media celebrated Nigeria’s Independence in grand style. The memorable event took place at Ikeja, Lagos.
In a chat with the publisher of SOLIDNEWSNG.COM Online Magazine, AZUH LILIAN, the president of PWNM Lilian Odumosu, spoke on what the occasion was all about, adding that the event was all about PWNM celebrating themselves and also rejoicing with Nigeria on her 62 independence. Enjoy the encounter.

My name is Princess Lilian Odumosu.
What is the significance of today’s event?
The significance of today’s event is that first, today is our independence day and as Nigerians and members of a professional body of women in media, we need to celebrate our nation, our country Nigeria because take it or leave it Nigeria is a place to be and Nigeria is our land and it is worth celebrating. Even if not for anything, but the mere fact that we are alive.
What inspired today’s event?
What inspired today’s event is us the Professional Women in Media and also Nigeria celebrating its 62nd independence. I think it’s what blended the two together, let’s just come together as media professionals and build a greater height for ourselves. And also see that we ensure the good things of life get to all our members. We also need to tell ourselves the truth about this country which we all live in. I want to leave a good legacy as the president of PWNM.
As the President of PWNM, what is your dream for the association?
Oh… My dream is to see the association grow in leaps and bounds, both now and in the future. It has come to my knowledge that we don’t have time to unwind, we work round the clock, as if there’s no tomorrow. And you find out that the salary is nothing to write home about, you don’t have good health facility for yourself and also you don’t have the fund to do greater exploits. So coming together, we are teaching ourselves a lot of things: like health wise, our financial standards, how to raise it and how to become great CEO’s on our own and not to work for people any longer, all these have always been my passion.
What are the requirements for new members?
The thing is that you must be a journalist, is either you are a broadcast journalist or print journalist or you are a blogger – online journalist, or you are a theatre personality, you know we all are journalist that’s what we are talking about. So, that’s just the criteria. With all these, then you are capable of becoming a member of the organization.
