Can we meet you?
My names are Oghenekohwoyan Onaibe Desmond popularly known as Destalker in the comedy industry.
What’s your educational background like?
I’m a graduate of public administration from the Enugu State University of Science and Technology.
How did you come about the name Destalker?
From words like Des you can talk ohhh. I have used several names before Destalker came to stay.
What makes a good comedian?
Your ability to exaggerate and relate issues with your audience and also understanding them when they are getting bored.
Why did you choose to be a comedian?
I did not choose to be a comedian, the career chose me. It is inborn because it is genetic, my dad is a comedian too.
What are the elements of a good joke?
Reality, facts, interesting, educating and funny.
Does comedy come easy for you?
Yes, because I am naturally funny by birth so even normal gist sounds funny.
How long have you been in the comedy industry?
Like I said from infant and it becomes my source of income since 2006.
What differentiates you from other comedians?
My style of comedy, my gesticulations, my commanding voice and motivations.
What do you like most about being a comedian?
Seeing people happy and knowing I am the reason behind their smiles.

What’s your marital status like?
I’m married.
What is the sweetest thing about being married?
When you marry your best friend.
Would you consider it as the best decision you have ever taken?
Definitely yes.
What is your state of origin?
Delta State, Ughelli North local government to be precise.
What is the greatest lesson life has taught you?
Don’t look down on anyone.
What is the greatest thing being a comedian has done for you?
Being recognized in the society.
Who are your comedy Icons?
Nobody.
How would you rate the Nigerian comedy Industry?
Currently COVID-19 has hindered the growth of comedy industry but at least we your thriving.
What kind of person is Onaibe Desmond?
Friendly and focus.
What is the most important thing to you right now?
Happiness.
How many awards do you have to your credit?
Can’t count.
What is the greatest thing God has done for you?
Grace.
How would you describe your style?
Cool, my style is to look simple and classy.
When was the last time you wore a suit?
Two Saturdays ago, for a wedding.
Which is your favourite, Corporate or Native attires?
Native Attires.
Why do you love Native Attires?
It makes me look mature.
What is your favourite color and why?
No specific colour, anything nice.
What is your favourite food?
Yam and beans porridge.
And drinks?
I drink anything but Remy Martin precisely.
How do you relax?
Playing snooker and swimming.
What is the most common thing in your wardrobe?
Boxers and singlets.
What is your definition of a stylish man?
Someone who has a sense of dressing, not just wearing clothes.
Where is the most fantastic place, you have travelled to recently?
London.
What does fashion mean to you?
Fashion to me is a lifestyle.

Just be creative and be free.
What is the secret behind your youthful looks?
Always happy and I don’t envy any one.
What is the highest amount you have spent on a fashion item?
Wristwatch and it costs $2000.
What is your philosophy of life?
Life is a free gift from God and what we do with our life is our gift back to God.
What are the three thing people don’t know about Onaibe Desmond?
I don’t like stress, gossip and I don’t like to fail.
Who are your close friends?
Acapella, Kelvin Great and Ajebo.
Which Nigerian designer makes your clothes and why?
Mudi Africa and Casa of Oshiafi, because they understand fashion trends and are also innovative too.
How affordable is Onaibe Desmond? What are your charges?
Officially I charge N3 million now.
What does friendship mean to you?
Friendship to me is to see my friends’ progress and achieve greatness
Before comedy what were you doing?
Like I said, it is inborn, I have never done anything apart from comedy.
What is the best way to make money as a comedian?
Just do something that is different from every other comedian and every one will look for you.

Most people watch your comedy clips to make them happy. What makes Onaibe Desmond happy?
When I see people happy and knowing I am the reason.
Your romance with comedy, how did it start and what prompted it?
It started in 2009, when I staged “Destalker laughter crusade”.
