Chief Akunna also shared a significant achievement during his tenure—the opening of a road that had been a longstanding issue in the community. “There’s a road, that was too bad, there’s lots of water, three chairmen have come and gone. They overlooked the road, some chairmen have tried to open up that road, they couldn’t, because the road is like River-Niger,” he explained. Despite the challenges, Chief Akunna promised during his campaign to fix the road within three months of assuming office. True to his word, he successfully opened the road within the specified timeframe, with the support of friends and well-wishers.

That was how the name started,” he recounted. The name, meaning “Breadfruit” in English, has since become synonymous with Chief Akunna’s persona, reflecting his resilience and prosperity.
